Back from the school year 1993/94
originates the idea to publish the events and results of the year in a
yearbook. From this time on, we begin each school year with the past. Our
yearbook documents the high points of the school year and worth knowing over
teachers and students. This year we have arrived to the 10th
edition. Ten years are a long way not only for humans, but also in the life of
a school. The large and fast events of the world affected also our school.
Since that time the commercial academy
and the grammar school functioned in all documents as an institution. At the
moment – although the daily life connects the two schools – they are
independent, with own legal status and have their own household. The entry and
proving of educational and economic results require considerable effort and
takes away much energy from the daily educational work.
Ten years ago 438 students attended the
thirteen classes of the commercial academy, including four Slovak classes with
141 students. In the re-opened grammar school we had 98 students. The students
came from 104 villages and towns. The number of the teaching staff consisted at
that time of 39 colleagues, four of them free-lance teachers. The teacher staff
worked closely together with the four educational advisers and 21
employees. Our students were national
champions in athletics, they won on different typing competitions, the grammar
school students acquired the second place on the “Ki mit tud?” competition, the
members of the historical specialized circles got further to the national
finals. The winner of the competition “Verš 93”
came also from our school.
Owing to our sponsors and the donation
ball in the school year 1993/94 we could spend SKK 154.035, - on teaching
materials.
And what are we occupied nowadays with?
If we regard only the numbers, our school is visited by 616 students. The
commercial academy has 17 classes with 486 pupils and the grammar school
130 students. The study average at the commercial academy was 1.77 and at
the grammar school 1.68.
The teaching staff
has also grown. Today 54 teachers educate at this school, only a few of them
are not qualified. It is a pleasant feeling to know, that under the colleagues
are eleven former students.
In the past years were often made
financial reports over buying teaching materials. This task had highest
priority, because we needed new materials. Up to today we have solved this
problem. Our school disposes of three computer study rooms, a Media Centrum,
a subject-specific classroom for economics and there are 51 electronic
type-writers for students available. The school
is connected with 56 computers to the Internet. In further specialised
classroom for languages and history and in the teacher’s room the members of
the training body and the students can use computers, televisions, videos and
other teaching materials. In the school year 1996/97 our school was extended by
a new gym.
On the basis these results one can state
we have achieved the necessary. Now the essential point, we have to concentrate
indeed on the quality. This is a fastidious task, so it needs in addition
much energy. On these efforts we cannot report however with numbers
or piece data. On the PHARE and SOCRATES projects we work closely together
with the partner schools – the Deák Ferenc specialized school for
economics and computer studies in
And not least, for the quality speak the
results of our students at different competitions, the successful ECDL
examinations, as well as the number of accepted students on national and
foreign universities.
